SISTEER Nepal: Development, Dilemmas, Design.
The SI Wing is proud to present the first student-initiated STEER in CAPT, SISTEER Nepal!
SISTEER Nepal is proposed by the SI Wing, to learn about Social Innovation beyond Singapore. Nepal was chosen to be the country of interest as it has an emerging economy with rich history and culture, growing volunteering network with Singapore, and a strong potential in harnessing social innovation towards a more sustainable future.
The objectives of this trip are to:
- Understand the development dilemmas facing Nepal, with a focus on economic development and environmental conservation
- Explore and learn how design in the form of social innovation can be applied to address development dilemmas in Nepal
- Foster a critical mindset to analyse global issues relevant to economic development and environmental conservation
- Draw parallels in development and design between Nepal and Singapore
Our SISTEER Nepal team
The SISTEER Nepal team consists of 7 SI members, 9 non-SI students from CAPT and 4 students from RVRC. Our study group will be led by Dr Kankana Mukhopadhyay (our SI Wing advisor) and our trip will be led primarily by Ms Wong Soon Fen (CAPT fellow) and Mr Lim Cheng Puay (RVRC fellow).

Acknowledgements
We are very fortunate to be able to gain the support of the college and the help of our advisors, Ms Wong Soon Fen and Dr Kankana Mukhopadhyay. Our advisors have provided us with lots of guidance since the last semester and they have played a big part in getting SISTEER Nepal approved by the school. Without them, STEER Nepal will not happen.
