Zoe is drawn to the novelty of Social Innovation in our society and hopes that it can grow to have a greater influence on how we tackle problems. As a future educator, she hopes to spread the spirit of community engagement to her students, and impart critical thinking skills she has acquired in her SI journey to change the way they perceive community service.Elizabeth loves people especially elderly and kids, and she is very excited about social innovation, and the potential SI has in addressing social problems. As a future healthcare professional, she hopes to make a difference in the lives of the patients she sees, and to tap on user-centric design thinking methods to improve the healthcare experience.
Hearing about Social Innovation’s focus of going beyond building relationships and achieving sustainable change motivated Grace (Yong) to join the Social Innovation Wing. Over the past year she has learnt and experienced what Social Innovation is through the process of thinking, designing, failing and improving on projects. Grace has thoroughly enjoyed the challenges faced and possibilities seen so far in this journey, which has moulded how she sees the community around her as well.As a business student with an interest in public policy, Grace (Fun) was originally attracted to the concept of social innovation due to its relevance to entrepreneurship and the potential to enhance her critical thinking skills through problem-solving: attempting to identify and address gaps between needs and existing efforts. Ultimately, being part of SI has made her see the bigger picture - how individuals can venture beyond merely interaction to take actionable steps to improve the engagement process within society.
Regine believes that many social problems can be solved by simple and creative solutions. To try to find the best solutions, Regine makes it her priority to try to find the root cause by listening and understanding various communities she works with.Van decided to join the Social Innovation Wing because of its refreshing concept about helping a community in a sustainable way. She believes that the journey in SI will give her a more in-depth understanding about different communities, and it will allow her to explore and continuously find feasible and sustainable solution to social problems.
Cabrini was inspired to join the Social Innovation Wing in a bid to learn more about its problem solving processes. To her, being able to creatively, effectively and equitably generate solutions to social problems present a great hope in solving many great problems in our time. As a Global Studies major, her commitment in the SI Wing greatly complements her academic studies and vice versa. She is focused on a knowledge-based practice of Social Innovation.As a freshman in CAPT, Chloe was drawn to social innovation for its novel nature. She felt that finding creative ways to solve problems in a sustainable manner was a new perspective to view community engagement. She believes that through social innovation, she will be able to increase the depth of how she is able to help communities, in a more suitable and sustainable manner.
Being involved in community work, Huifen sees and appreciates the importance of establishing meaningful relationships within Social Innovation. The many challenges encountered in the creation process also signals to her the many factors to be considered in every issue, as well as the multitudinous possibilities in every situation. In the process of identifying root issues and subsequently, sustainable solutions, Huifen appreciates the focus on various stakeholders involved in communities.
